Facilities of life for all

Many older dread to go to the nursing homes because of the bad reputation that nursing homes have in our society. Nursing homes have had some problems over the past decades, but there still good, trustworthy homes. Despite this, be placed in a home will force your Bienaimé to renounce their personal freedom, the protection of privacy and independence. If your Bienaimé does not yet need constant medical care, it is not a need to place them in a nursing home. Try to consider another option.

The alternative to a nursing home is assisted living facilities, commonly called ALF. These facilities are for people who need help with daily activities, but who want to live more independently possible both and as long as possible. The objective is to bridge the gap between independent living and nursing homes.

Level of freedom

Residents of assisted living centers are not able to live by themselves, but don't require constant care either. These facilities provide assistance for drinking, bathing, dressing, laundry, housekeeping and assistance with drugs. Many schools also have medical care centres; Although care is perhaps not as intensive as a nursing home care.

Understand the differences.

The decision on whether to send your Bienaimé to an assisted living facility or a nursing home is based on several factors:

* Cost: Helps life is rather expensive because of people living in the apartment-like environments. Nursing homes are less expensive because the elderly living in a more communal space, with little private space.

* Medicare is often available for a person in a nursing home, but perhaps not for someone in an assisted living facility.

* Facilities: ALFs are focused on individuals. Nursing homes are focused on the collective group.

* Location: while the assisted living facility is a place for a few elderly people at a time, a nursing home is home to many patients. The old House an individual who is given all the help and assistance he or she needs, while the nursing home provides personal care much less.

Nursing homes are meant to care for the people who have a number of requirements and cannot take care of themselves. ALFs are intended to assist the elderly who may handle essentially for many of their personal needs themselves.

* In an assisted living facility, skilled nursing care are not usually available except on a basis according to the needs. A nursing home more like a hospital environment and provides nursing on a large scale, skilled care.

* Assisted living facilities are intended to help people in the preparation of meals, bathing, dressing or performing household tasks. If your Bienaimé is often confused or problems of memory, this could be the answer. If they have a debilitating illness or condition, they may need for a nursing home.

Take account of their well-being.

When deciding on a nursing home or assisted living facility, your concern should be the well-being of loved. It may be necessary to take into account the reality of cost, but there are ways to get financial assistance and long term, you rest more easily whether loved is to be well treated. Keep in mind that if you end up with a situation which is full of problems, the effort and stress you invest in the resolution that the situation may be not the dollars thought you that you can save.
